Diagnosis and Current Challenges

Located seven kilometers from the city of Licantén, next to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lora, this walk currently suffers from underuse and deterioration. Its non-compliant surfaces facilitate improper use of the public space, while the proximity of route J-60 presents safety risks due to the lack of adequate sidewalks and safe pedestrian connections between the different facilities.

Comprehensive Renovation Strategy

The proposal redefines the El Lora Walk as a living heritage axis, able to bring together faith and community, sports and recreation, history and modernity. Through accessible pavements, controlled shade, ergonomic furniture, and low-water-use native vegetation, an inclusive, safe, and sustainable public space is ensured.

Sports Integration Plaza

In its midsection, the walk connects with the plaza adjoining the soccer field and gymnasium, forming a multi-use gathering space where sport and rest merge. A system of inclusive paths, with tactile pavements and gentle slopes, allows for barrier-free circulation, while metal pergolas and wooden lattices create shaded areas that soften the light and generate natural ventilation.

Family and Recreational Space

At the western end, a family gathering area unfolds as an oasis of recreational and sports activities. Around a new inclusive children’s play area — with zip lines, adapted swings, and sensory modules — outdoor exercise stations are integrated under hybrid shade structures, where the solidity of metal contrasts with the warmth of the lattices.
