Sausalito Lagoon is a natural and cultural landmark of high relevance for the commune and its intercommunal surroundings, given its strategic location, ecological dimension, and history as a recreational space for the public. Despite its potential, it currently faces notable physical deterioration, a lack of defined programs, loss of landscape value, and a growing perception of insecurity, which has severely limited its use and appropriation by the community.

The project spans a surface area of 10.5 hectares of lakeshore, under a vision of environmental recovery, programmatic activation, and urban sustainability, promoting equitable access, social integration, and community coexistence. The proposal is structured around three strategic axes.

Recovery of the Lakeshore: Continuity, Accessibility, and Landscape
A perimeter route is proposed that restores spatial unity and functions as circulation infrastructure. This walkway is an active system that adapts to the terrain, proposed uses, and activities, offering platforms for rest, landscape viewing, boat launching, recreational activities, and connection with natural landmarks, ensuring universal accessibility and safety along the entire route.

Activation of the Water Body: Recreation and Urban Ecology
The lagoon, currently underused, becomes the active core of the park. New controlled uses are planned for the water surface that connect the community with its natural heritage, such as lake bathing areas, floating contemplation zones, and water circuits, incorporating safety devices and ecosystem protection measures, especially for children and young people, through an educational and playful approach.

Revaluing Facilities and New Programs for Social Integration
The intervention includes upgrading existing facilities — sports courts, a skatepark, recreation and sports areas — incorporating criteria of inclusion, sustainability, and versatility.

In addition, new community programs are incorporated: picnic areas, inclusive play areas, shaded gathering spaces, and service modules, while also considering the possibility of shared management with local operators to promote circular neighborhood economies and local employment.

Comprehensive Vision
The project seeks to position Sausalito Lagoon as a metropolitan lakeside park, a green and blue lung serving sustainable urban life, that revalues territorial memory, democratizes access to nature, and enhances collective wellbeing through design, landscape, and community management.
